Carcassonne from above

Carcassonne is undoubtedly known for its fortified city and is justifiably famous. But it has even more to offer. On the left bank of the Aude, the bastide was built under King Saint Louis in 1260. A town arranged in a chequerboard pattern around the central square. Today, the bastide is bordered by the boulevard streets built in the 18th and 19th centuries on the former fortress moats.
