This is not Damascus, Baghdad or Cairo, but the more than 100-year-old municipal swimming pool of Leipzig (Saxony/Germany). Unfortunately, the building has been empty for almost 20 years and has an uncertain future. The renovation of the baths in accordance with the preservation order will cost very high investments. These would probably not be amortised by a purely commercial operation. Let’s hope that it won’t become a permanently lost place.
I was able to visit the complex in 2021 and was doubly touched because I learned to swim in these pools with my school class many years ago.
