A good friend, originally from Bautzen, invited me to visit his old hometown together with him. I had already heard about this well-preserved medieval town, but I was still surprised. The silhouette of Bautzen stands out impressively against the mountainous landscape of Upper Lusatia. A walk through the renovated old town with its monuments, towers, medieval alleys, boulevards and pubs tells of the town’s 1,000-year history.
