Many years ago, I started photographing lanterns. In the beginning, I made up little stories to give the pictures more meaning. Now I often succeed in putting the objects into a pictorial context that speaks for itself. Once you start, you see the world through a special lens and discover the object of desire everywhere. I follow the subject less excessively now. But when I see an interesting lantern, I still grab the camera.
