Neustrelitz surprised me. It was actually just on the way to a lost place location. But the small town in Mecklenburg turned out to be an idyllic place in the autumn light. The former residence town of Mecklenburg dukes was only founded in 1733 as a baroque planned town. Unfortunately, the former ducal palace burnt down at the end of the Second World War. However, the palace park has been preserved. Neustrelitz and its city harbour are connected to a network of 29 larger and smaller lakes.
