There is much to say about Dresden. Residence city of the Saxon electors and kings and today capital of the Free State of Saxony. A city of culture and art. But also a location of modern industries. The city lies picturesquely and climatically in the valley of the Elbe. Nearby, wine is grown on the slopes of the river.
Dresden was also praised for its baroque and Mediterranean-style architecture until February 1945, when large parts of the city were destroyed in four nightly air raids at the end of the Second World War. Dresden has hardly recovered from this to this day. Little by little, prominent buildings in the old town, such as the Frauenkirche, are being rebuilt.
And yet Dresden has never quite lost its charm and fascinates me in particular with the joie de vivre of its inhabitants.
